Method: Vary heat flux in vacuum precondenser. (Vary
precondenser cooling water flow.)
Process: Vacuum systems. Must always have vapor product.
Advantages: Vacuum system runs at nearly constant conditions.
Disadvantages: Secondary temperature control may be required
to avoid excessive cooling water temperature at low flow rates.
Application: Use in systems with significant condensable
material overhead. Rarely seen in practice.
Variants:
Configuration notes:
Operation: Temperature approach in condenser sets the condensation
temperature of material in the overhead vapor. In turn, this fixes
the condensation pressure.
